Hailing from a small village just outside Vienna, Fourward are the latest in a long line of Austrian talent, with other notable names including Camo & Krooked, Body & Soul, and Mainframe label owner DisasZt all originating in the thriving Austrian scene.
Marrying elements of tech-step, neurofunk and jump-up into one slick package, this new awesome four-some are taking the scene by storm with huge releases on a host of prestigious labels. Refusing to be confined to one genre, for Fourward it's all about the music.
We think that limiting yourself to just one genre or musical style narrows your creativity. Music is about expressing yourself and it doesn’t matter if that’s a dark tune, a deep tune or a nice liquid roller. For us, being able to create all kinds of styles is the fun factor about making music.
Fourward - The Healer by Mainframe Recordings
Fourward began several years ago when a group of friends decided to make music simply for fun. With four different, yet equally talented members, it's no surprise that Fourward are now known for their unique and accomplished sound.
Lukas, one quarter of the supergroup, began producing electronic music 8 years ago, whilst Dominik was drawn into the Drum and Bass scene in 2000. In addition to this, both Niklas and Ludwig have also played guitar in different bands, giving the group four unusual perspectives on bass music - something evident in their unmistakable sound. Drawing their influences from Drum and Bass pioneers such as Matrix and Futurebound, Bad Company and Noisia, Fourward represent a fresh take on the Neurofunk style, and with their four varied ingredients, it's hard to predict what this exciting group will cook up in the studio.
Officially combining forces in 2007, the newly formed four-piece quickly caught the attention of Subsonik Sound Recordings. After featuring alongside the likes of Subsonik and InsideInfo on various singles, the group began to attract the attention of some of the darkest, grittiest labels in the Drum and Bass. In 2009 the group had a breakthrough year with releases on Austria’s Nasca Records, Trace’s DSCI4 label, as well as a collaboration with Body & Soul on Virus Recordings, Ed Rush & Optical’s legendary imprint.
Following this success, Fourward released the ‘Episodes’ LP on Citrus Recordings in May 2011, and now have a string of singles set for release on labels such as Trust In Music, Fokuz Recordings, as well as a remix of ‘Moblaw’ on Jade’s Eatbrain Records and a collaboration with Tali on ‘Facing Forwards’ taken from her ‘Dark Days, High Nights’ LP on AudioPorn.
Now, with huge momentum of several highly acclaimed releases behind them, Fourward have co-signed exclusively to Shimon’s AudioPorn Records and DisasZt's Mainframe Recordings, and enter their most exciting chapter to date. Following in the footsteps of Dirtyphonics, Camo & Krooked, Body & Soul, and more recently Xilent and High Maintenance, Fourward have now joined two of the scenes most creative and vibrant labels. Featuring a world famous roster of accomplished veterans alongside fresh new talent, AudioPorn and Mainframe are the perfect fit for Fourward’s fresh, unique style and creative flair.
